Smartphone Apps That Are Perfect For College Students

Smartphone apps that are perfect for college students

In the fast-paced world of college, students need to take advantage of every resource they can get their hands on. If you're in this situation and you own a smartphone, this mobile device can be one of your primary resources - it's not just something intended to supply entertainment solutions for you.

Perhaps one of the chief advantages of smartphones, whether they're powered by Apple iOS, Google's Android, Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 or any other mobile operating system, is the ability they grant you to download mobile applications, or "apps." Quite a few of these can be of great benefit to any college student, for a variety of reasons.

For those who want to do as much networking as possible, Bump is the app for you. To share contact information using this program, all you have to do is hold your smartphone close to the phone of someone who also has the app. It links to Facebook, and instantly prompts a friend request once the information is shared. Currently, it's available for iPhone and Android users.

As an example of a more studious app, MyPocketProf allows you to view your course notes for a given class on your smartphone at any time, even when you're not online. You can also share your notes with other students who have the program, if you feel confident in your knowledge and want to share the informational wealth. iPhone and Android users can take advantage of this app.

Another incredibly useful app, also of a decidedly academic nature, is Stanza. This lets you read at any time from a library of over 100,000 different books and periodicals, and you can also use it to view your personal documents if you sync them into your iTunes library. Unfortunately, its only available for iPhone owners at the moment.

However, new apps are being made every day, and chances are good some developer will make comparable versions of currently exclusive apps, as well as invent new ones with even more useful functions.
