Tips on how to save money on your holiday cards

The holiday season is full of joy and merry-making, but the season can also put a pretty big hole in your pocket. This year, instead of spreading your self financially thin when you are full of holiday spirit, consider the ways that you can save money without sacrificing your holiday traditions. For example, there are many ways to cut costs on holiday greeting cards that will still be just as effective and beautiful to your recipients.

First, think about what you can do yourself. Even if think that you do not have an artistic bone in your body, the array of do it yourself craft books and other resources can teach you, step by step, how to make beautiful cards and stationery that will look like they cost much more than they actually did. If you are worried about being about to create the cards by hand, you can also design holiday cards on your computer.

If you are set on buying cards from a company or you do not have time to make your own, consider buying the cards in bulk. Holiday cards, like many other products, are cheaper when bought in large quantities. If you do not have that many people to send cards to, perhaps you can split the order with someone who will not be sending cards to the same recipients, such as a co-worker.

Avoid overbuying cards by making a list of the people you are going to send cards to before you buy, and then only buy a few extras. You can save money on postage as well by hand-delivering cards going to local addresses. A hand-delivered card offers an even more personal touch to your holiday greeting and it will allow you the chance to catch up with loved ones.
