Why a career in online marketing could be just the ticket

Students who've just graduated after putting in the hard work necessary to earn a bachelor's degree in marketing will have numerous career opportunities they'll be able to pursue. It's a diverse field, with room for people with various talents - as copywriters, artists, graphic designers, administrative skills, a knack for sales and numerous other qualities.

With this in mind, your head might be spinning with all the possibilities, not to mention due to the considerable pressures caused by searching for a job just out of college. To narrow your search, it can help to focus on the fields of marketing that are seeing the greatest prosperity right now. Although that might change in the future, it still makes for a good place to start.

Online marketing is, arguably, the field of this discipline with the most potential for growth at the moment. The pervasiveness of marketing tactics accomplished through social media channels, paid search, search engine optimization (SEO) and other internet-related methods has spread to the marketing divisions of countless companies, as well as businesses specifically focused on advertising.

Companies are devoting significant portions of their marketing budgets to fund these tactics - in some cases, the majority of their advertising dollars are going to online media.

You don't have to be an expert in SEO, or know how to expertly devise a social media campaign. Although those skills certainly don't hurt, online marketing relies heavily on elements of various other fields, as mentioned earlier, including excellent writing skills, artistic and design talents, sales expertise, webpage design and more.

Online marketing isn't for everyone. Some recent college graduates with marketing degrees might feel more comfortable working in the more traditional aspects of an advertising and marketing agency. However, based on its success and potential for future growth alone, it's certainly worth a try.

Have you ever considering working in marketing or advertising?
