 Consider these environmentally-friendly cars

If you are looking to buy a new car, why not buy one that will be good to the environment? Environmentally-friendly cars are becoming more affordable every year and their sleek and trendy design makes them increasingly easier on the eyes. Consider test driving one of these cars and you'll see how fulfilling it is to get the car of your dreams while going green.

According to the ACEEE Green Book, an online subscription that compares car model green ratings from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, says that the most environmentally friendly car of 2011 is the Honda Civic GX. This is the eighth year in a row that the GX has taken away top honors. According to the Green Book, the electric Nissan Leaf is a close second and the Smart Fortwo is third.

Luxury brands are also starting to put out environmentally friendly, hybrid cars. According to Practical Environmentalist, BMW now has three hybrid cars called BMW ActiveHybrids. BMW explains that the ActiveHybrid 7 reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions while increasing car performance.

Audi is following the green movement by creating the 2012 Audi Q5oT Quattro Hybrid. Automotive news source, Inside Line says that this is the first full hybrid-electric luxury crossover. Finally, Porsche now offers the Cayenne S Hybrid for the environmentally-conscious, luxury car enthusiast.

However, if you are looking for a car that is more in your price range, Cars.com recommends the Volkswagen Passat TDI as the best green car and the Hundai Elantra as the best deal for green drivers. Both are nominees for the website's 2012 Eco-Friendly Car of the Year. With all of the options to choose from, there is a green vehicle for everyone and every budget.
