Get A Grip On Your Snacking (or Something That's Not A Crinkly Potato Chip Bag)

Author: Benjamin Delorenzo

Fruits are a healthier snack option.

Many people will admit that they could lose a few extra pounds, but it can be hard to get over the weight-loss plateau when you feel like you've tried everything in the book. Short-term crash diets are not viable ways to shed that excess weight and can even endanger your overall well-being. Ask anyone who's ever idolized Twiggy.

So what do you do when you're just about to lose hope? Try to hone in on your snacking habits. Most people pride themselves on eating healthy, well-rounded meals during breakfast and dinner. However, poor snacking habits can be the downfall of any weight loss plan.

If you just can't seem to get your hand out of the cookie jar, consider substituting those snacks for something healthier. Just because you need to lose a little weight doesn't mean you have to cut out munching in between meals altogether - you just need to think wisely.

Instead of going for that bag of chips, consider filling your bowl of fruit with delectable goodies to quell your appetite throughout the day. Bananas, oranges and apples are all full of nutrients that can benefit your body and help you fight off those cravings.

Many people have a hard time kicking the habit of midnight snacking. However, there's a solution to this, too: make sure you have a nutritious, filling dinner. Follow it up with a bowl of cereal or more fruit no later than 8 p.m. to make sure you're satiated before hitting the hay.

Although it may take some getting used to, your body will learn to adapt to your new eating habits over time. In the end, you'll be happier with your body and living a healthier life.
