Three Unhealthy Habits To Kick This Year
Most people have one or two habits that are detrimental to their health. You may tell yourself month after month, year after year, that you will finally quit doing everything that you know is bad for your body, but for whatever reason, you can't seem to make any lasting changes. But why not make this year really count and actually do something that will help you live a better and longer life? Consider some of these common habits and take the steps to change today.
1. Smoking - Sure, this may be the most obvious suggestion, but it is also one of the hardest habits to quit. Smoking is addictive, but with today's advances in technology and healthcare, quitting is easier than ever. If you are young, you may think that it is not a big deal and you can always quit later, but you are causing damage to your body that will last a lifetime. The sooner you quit the more likely you will live a longer life.
2. Drinking - Like many things in life, drinking needs to be done in moderation. Consuming a glass or two of wine is okay now and then, but binge drinking every weekend is likely doing a lot more damage to your body than you realize. Try to restrict the amount of alcohol you consume and notice the different you feel, especially the next morning.
3. Taking sleeping pills - It is very easy to slip into the habit of taking sleeping pills every day. While it's nice to quickly fall into a deep sleep, Men's Fitness says that these can cause a great deal of liver and stomach damage over time. Try a night time tea or quiet music instead.
