Find the focal point
Before you start reorganizing a room stand back and take a look for the focal point. Is there a feature that naturally draws attention such as a fireplace or a large scenic window? Consider decorating the room to highlight this feature. You could position the chairs or sofa so they face the focal point and complement them with small end tables. Adding a decorative touch like artwork or a decorative mirror could make the focal point stand out even more.

Sometimes a small change can make a big difference. Rather than replacing an old couch, consider reupholstering it.
